Taking Flight

As we brought Chaviva’s eighth-year theme, Metamorphosis, to a close, students reflected on the growth and transformation they experienced throughout the year. Embracing the day’s theme of Taking Flight, they began the day with Chaviva’s annual visit to Yeshiva Lane.

The day began with the opportunity to hear from remarkable women whose family histories and personal experiences brought lessons of emunah, purpose, and legacy to life. Rebbetzin Goldberg, wife of the Rosh Yeshiva and daughter of Rebbetzin Ausband a”h, welcomed our girls to Telshe and shared stories about her mother’s experiences before, during, and after the war. Students had the unique opportunity to see Rebbetzin Ausband’s personal diary, where she recorded memories of the fateful years. Through Rebbetzin Ausband’s extraordinary example, students learned the lesson of committing to live a life of Kiddush Hashem, especially when rebuilding after experiencing a churban when so many gave their lives al kiddush HaShem.
The girls also heard from Rebbetzin Levine, daughter of R' Chaim Stein zt”l, one of Telshe's Roshei Yeshiva. Through stories of her father, she conveyed a powerful message: when a person truly desires to perform a mitzvah, Hashem provides the means to make it possible. Our own Mrs. Fayga Nathan then shared her journey to the yeshiva and reflected on the legacies of her grandparents on both sides of her family. She spoke about how their values continue to shape her life and teaching, encouraging students to recognize their own unique legacies they can draw strength from and carry forward.
An unexpected highlight of the day was a visit to Mrs. Barkin’s home, where she offered the girls a heartfelt bracha and encouraged them to continually ask themselves, “What does Hashem want from me?” She spoke about the joy that comes from living according to Hashem’s will and cultivating gratitude for His blessings each and every day.
After lunch at Colby Park, students headed to Get Air Trampoline Park, a fitting conclusion to a day spent exploring both spiritual heights and physical heights, embodying the theme of Taking Flight.
Our second day of end-of-year programming provided students with an opportunity to celebrate, reflect, and look ahead to the months to come.
The day began with the final Tefillah Tuesday of the school year. In honor of Rosh Chodesh, students focused on the tefillah of Ya'aleh V'Yavo, reflecting on how they can continue to elevate themselves and maximize opportunities for growth throughout the summer.
After a special brunch hosted by our Chessed Heads, students participated in the annual letter-writing ceremony, sharing heartfelt messages with friends and words of appreciation for their teachers. The celebration continued outdoors with Chaviva’s annual foam party, filled with music, achdus, and simcha.
As the day wound down, students painted butterflies and set personal goals for the summer before participating in a final reflection activity led by Nishmas. The program concluded with the beloved annual year-end slideshow and video presentation created by our Lev Heads, giving everyone the chance to look back on the memories, milestones, and moments that made this year so special.
What a beautiful way to close another wonderful year at Chaviva. We wish all of our students and families a restful, meaningful, and growth-filled summer.
