At Chaviva, education extends far beyond the classroom. Whether through hands-on experiences, meaningful discussions, or inspiring encounters, our students are constantly learning in new and engaging ways. This past week was a perfect example, as students stepped out of their usual routine to deepen their understanding, connect with others, and gain fresh perspectives.
Students who reached their chessed hour goals had the opportunity to take part in a special ice skating trip—an exciting way to celebrate their dedication to giving back. As they glided across the ice, they not only enjoyed a well-earned reward but also reflected on the joy that comes from helping others. This trip reinforced an important lesson: acts of kindness create ripples, benefiting both the giver and the recipient.
A huge yashar koach to all the students who met their goals, and a special thank you to Chana Bloom and Tzippy Chafetz for organizing the outing, as well as to Ms. Downing for chaperoning!
On Tuesday, Lev students took their learning underwater—literally—on a visit to the Cleveland Aquarium. This trip was timed to connect with the mazal of Adar—fish—giving students the chance to experience the wonders of the sea while tying their observations to deeper messages of hashgacha pratis and mussar.
Surrounded by an incredible array of marine life, students marveled at the diversity of Hashem’s creations. After returning to school, they reflected on the insights they had gained, considering the ways in which nature offers valuable lessons about resilience, adaptation, and purpose.
Thank you to Mrs. Wolman and Lev heads Leila Ganz and Nuni Peltz for organizing the trip and to all the drivers and chaperones who made it possible!
That same afternoon, Chaviva was privileged to host Rabbi Daniel Kalish, Rosh HaYeshiva of Waterbury Yeshiva. In his heartfelt talk, he emphasized the infinite worth of every Jew, offering an inspiring message that left a lasting impact on our students. Later that evening, many girls attended his community shmuz, which was accompanied by uplifting music and a powerful sense of chizuk.
We were honored to co-sponsor Rabbi Kalish’s visit to Cleveland, and we are so grateful that our students had the opportunity to hear his meaningful words.
Our 11th and 12th graders recently participated in our biannual Career Fair, an event designed to expose students to various professional fields. Under the coordination of Mr. Hopkins and student heads Basya Greenberger, Chayala Hanson, and Aviva Klein, the fair provided an engaging opportunity for students to hear directly from experts in various careers, including law, medicine, engineering, finance, and design. Students rotated through stations, gaining insights from professionals who generously shared their experiences and advice. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who took the time to inspire our students and to Dr. Moshe Ornstein, whose interactive presentation was a highlight of the evening.
From hands-on experiences that bring lessons to life to words of wisdom that inspire and uplift, learning at Chaviva goes far beyond the four walls of a classroom. Each new opportunity—whether a trip, an event, or a speaker—helps our students grow, explore, and engage with the world around them in a meaningful way.
