With Gratitude to Mrs. Schabes
As we begin a new school year, we are taking a moment to celebrate and thank Mrs. Huvie Schabes for all of her years at Chaviva.
During her time at Chaviva, Mrs. Schabes became a valued teacher, colleague, mentor, and friend. She brought warmth, thoughtfulness, and genuine care to everything she did, and she was always willing to share her time and experience with those around her.
Mrs. Schabes taught Halacha 9, a course centered on Bein Adam l’chavero, the mitzvos between people. It is a fitting reflection of the way she approached her role at Chaviva. She was deeply invested in the people around her, building meaningful relationships with students and colleagues and making those around her feel supported and valued.
That spirit was especially evident in her work with our faculty. As a mentor to teachers, Mrs. Schabes offered guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear, helping colleagues navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and continue growing in their work. Her willingness to invest in others became a meaningful part of the culture of our faculty.
Mrs. Schabes also took ownership of our IPBL program and poured tremendous energy and creativity into developing it. She helped shape the program into the experience it is today, continually looking for ways to challenge our students, strengthen their learning, and bring the program's vision to life. Her influence on IPBL will continue to be felt by the students and teachers who carry it forward.
We are grateful for the time, energy, wisdom, and heart Mrs. Schabes shared with Chaviva. She leaves behind not only the lessons she taught in her classroom, but also the relationships she nurtured, the teachers she supported, and the programs she helped shape.
While we will certainly miss having Mrs. Schabes as part of our everyday school life, we look forward to seeing her back at Chaviva, whether cheering on our 5K runners, watching our students present their IPBL projects, or simply stopping by to say hello.
Mrs. Schabes, thank you for being such a meaningful part of Chaviva and for all that you have given to our students, our faculty, and our school. We wish you much hatzlacha in this next chapter and look forward to all the ways our paths will continue to cross.
