Welcome Back, Chaviva!

After a long summer, Chaviva finally welcomed our students back to school on Tuesday, September 1! The day began with plenty of energy as students reunited with friends, met new classmates, took photos, collected their name tags, and settled into their classrooms.

After a quick icebreaker, Mrs. Berkowitz led our first Shacharis of the year, welcoming each student by name and giving the girls a heartfelt birchas habanos. Then it was time for our first teacher/student Chopped Competition! As teams presented their culinary creations, they shared the “Chaviva symbolism” behind each ingredient and their dish. In the spirit of Naaseh Adam, students reflected on how the raw ingredients they are given are opportunities to develop, create, and grow into their best selves throughout the school year.

Students then met with their Chumash teachers before enjoying pizza and fries and jumping right into three short classes. Mrs. Fleksher also introduced herself and her role in supporting students throughout their learning journeys. She led a “Cycling Through the School Year” activity, helping students identify the patterns in their own motivation and performance throughout the year and brainstorm strategies to navigate those ups and downs.

After Mincha, students watched video recaps from three previous Chaviva 5Ks, officially kicking off training for this year’s event. The 5K is an opportunity for students to set goals, push beyond their comfort zones, and come together as a school with positivity and perseverance.

We’re excited to begin our ninth year of Chaviva High School with an incredible group of girls and look forward to all that they will create, discover, and achieve this year!
