Our students had the privilege of being invited to attend the 46th Annual Governor’s Holocaust Commemoration at the Statehouse in Columbus, joining community members from across the state in an important act of remembrance and reflection.

The program, led by David Heller, National Campaign Chair of the Jewish Federations of North America, featured Holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Fenichel, who shared his powerful testimony of survival. Students were deeply moved by his story and by the opportunity to learn firsthand about resilience, memory, and responsibility in preserving the lessons of history.

The commemoration also honored individuals dedicated to advancing Holocaust education and ensuring that future generations continue to learn from these events. Governor Mike DeWine addressed the gathering with a message of support for the Jewish community and a clear call to action to stand against indifference and never be bystanders in the face of injustice.

Chaviva students represented the school with maturity and respect throughout the event, making a meaningful Kiddush Hashem. We are proud of the way they conducted themselves and of their commitment to learning, remembrance, and responsibility.
