Midterm Week at Chaviva

As the semester drew to a close, the stress of exam week was palpable, but Chaviva is dedicated to supporting our students in every way possible. Our annual First Semester Sleep Challenge was a success, encouraging students to prioritize rest and time management, with remarkable results in davening attendance. To celebrate, we treated everyone to a breakfast bar with bagels and iced coffee on Monday and a pizza lunch on Thursday. Lev Heads also brought special treats and notes of encouragement throughout exam week.

While exams are typical at the semester’s end, many teachers at Chaviva use creative assignments to assess student learning. Mrs. Wolman’s 10th-grade Tehillim students demonstrated their learning from the semester by writing songs based on one of the perakim of tehillim they studied in class. The song had to reflect the message and meaning of the perek. The girls did a fantastic job expressing their thoughts and feelings beautifully! Mrs. Ferder’s 12th grade Kesuvim students each created three unique artifacts based on their study of the first few perakim of Sefer Doniel. Our junior class had the privilege of walking through an exhibit of these artifacts and learning a little bit about the sefer and it’s lessons. A big Kol HaKavod to our freshmen who wrapped up their public speaking course with persuasive speeches in front of parents and peers. The presentations were a resounding success!

9th grade students also explored Halacha teachings on Mitzvos Bein Adam L’chaveiro, and many shared reflections on how these lessons reshaped their understanding. One student said, "I used to think it's just visiting, saying hi and bye. But now I know that you're not just doing it for the Mitzvah, it has to be done with love."

As the semester ends, we celebrate both academic achievement and personal growth. We look forward to another semester of learning, growth, and new challenges!
